How this table is built

Every team's row here reflects a full season's worth of fixtures, but not all of them have actually happened yet. For any match already played this season, the real result counts exactly as it happened. For any fixture still to come, last season's equivalent match is used as a stand-in — the same two teams (or, for a newly promoted side, whichever team's place they're inheriting from) at the same stage of the season — so every team always has a complete, comparable set of results rather than an incomplete one.

The +/- column shows the points swing for each fixture once it's actually been played, compared to what that same match was worth last season — a big positive number means a team is doing considerably better in that fixture than a year ago; a negative one means the reverse. The Next Fixture column shows each team's upcoming opponent, how that same fixture went last season, and — while it's actually being played — the live score.

As the season progresses and more placeholder fixtures get replaced with real results, this table naturally converges toward the genuine current table, since it's built from an ever-growing share of actual results rather than statistical estimates.
